Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Last updated June 2024 · Please read these terms carefully before using the platform.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lintoria Physics study platform and all of its features (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

Please note: This is a PRIVATE test. We accept no liability for any damages, loss, or penalties imposed by any authority arising from its use. It is provided purely for demonstration and must not be used anywhere this is not permitted.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

The Service is provided to you on the condition that you accept these Terms in full. You accept the Terms by ticking the acceptance box presented when you first enter the Service, or simply by continuing to use it. If you are under the age of 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent, guardian or your school to use a study platform of this kind, and that they have agreed to these Terms on your behalf where required.

2. What the Service includes

Lintoria is an educational platform for students studying GCSE and A-Level Physics. To give you a complete and honest picture, every part of the Service is described below.

2.1 Revision notes and resources

The core of the platform is a free library of physics teaching notes, worked equations and topic summaries spanning the full GCSE and A-Level specifications, together with curated links to official past papers, mark schemes and third-party revision sites. This material is provided for study and is not a substitute for your own school's teaching or your awarding body's official specification.

2.2 Student accounts and revision tools

A free account unlocks personal study tools: a revision planner for ticking off topics, a past-paper score tracker, bookmarks, optional spaced-repetition reminders, downloadable summary sheets, and synchronisation of your progress across devices. These tools store the progress data you choose to enter.

2.3 Interactive games and practice activities

The Service includes optional interactive games, quizzes and practice simulations intended to make revision more engaging. These are provided purely for entertainment and study motivation. Any points, scores, streaks, credits or in-game tokens have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money or goods, and exist only within the Service.

2.4 Remote study workspace

The Service offers an optional cloud-hosted study workspace — an isolated, temporary virtual desktop environment that lets you run educational software and open study resources without installing anything on your own device. Sessions are sandboxed and time-limited, and are automatically shut down after a period of inactivity. You are responsible for anything you choose to run inside a workspace session, and you must only use it for lawful, educational purposes.

2.5 Embedded resource viewer

The Service includes an in-browser viewer that lets you open and read linked study materials, reference pages and educational websites within the platform's interface, so that revision resources stay in one place. The viewer simply displays third-party content; Lintoria does not own, control, endorse or take responsibility for the content of external sites accessed through it, and your use of any third-party site remains subject to that site's own terms.

2.6 Feedback

You may send feedback, corrections and suggestions through the in-app feedback tool. By submitting feedback you grant us permission to use it to improve the Service, without obligation or compensation to you.

3. Eligibility and accounts

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful, personal, educational purposes, and in compliance with all rules, policies and laws that apply to you. In particular, you agree that you will not:

You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service is permitted in your own context. If it is not, you must not use it.

5. Intellectual property and content

The original notes, design, and software that make up the Service are owned by the Lintoria project and its contributors, and are provided to you under a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them for study. Equations, scientific facts and specification content are not claimed as proprietary. Third-party materials, including past papers and external sites, remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own licences and terms.

6. Privacy and your data

We collect the minimum data needed to run the Service: your verified email address, your account credentials in a secure (hashed) form, and the study progress you choose to record. We use this data only to operate the Service and to keep your account secure. We do not sell your data, and we do not show advertising. We may store anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to help us improve the platform. Because this is a private test build, you should not store sensitive personal information in the Service, and you should treat all data within it as temporary.

7. Availability and the test nature of the Service

The Service is an early, private demonstration build. It is offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may change, break, be added or be removed without notice, sessions and stored data may be reset, and the Service may be taken offline at any time. We make no promise of uptime, continuity, or that any data you store will be preserved. As stated above, this is a PRIVATE test, provided purely for demonstration, and must not be used anywhere this is not permitted.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components, or that the educational content is complete, accurate, or suitable for your exams. Always check facts against your official specification and your teacher's guidance.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, and as stated at the top of these Terms: this is a PRIVATE test. We accept no liability for any damages, loss, or penalties imposed by any authority arising from its use. It is provided purely for demonstration and must not be used anywhere this is not permitted.

Without limiting that statement, neither the Lintoria project nor its contributors shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress, profits, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. You use the Service entirely at your own risk.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Lintoria project and its contributors from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal costs) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

11. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version number and date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the revised Terms again. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, you must stop using the Service.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to issue@lintoria.com. We aim to reply within a few days during term time.
